I’m not a professional contractor, but from time to time, I do work at home that needs to replicate shapes.This tool does the job. It is pretty precise and easy to use.It is easy very easy to replicate any (even complicated) shape to another surface. There are two tools in the set – one smaller (about 5 in) and one bogger (about 10 in).I really like Amazon Basic products when I do not need something very professional, and I do not want to spend a lot of money. They usually have good quality, and they are not expensive. It is not an exception this time.

This Amazon Basics Contour Gauge Set is made of high quality plastic. It is very sturdy. I have used gauges that have broken after a day of light use but not these. I got perfect measurements every time. It locks in place securely too. I have not been disappointed with Amazon Basics; in fact, they surpass brand name products in quality and value.

This gauge set does exactly what it should…and does it easily.It’s light enough to handle, yet massive enough to work well.The reeds slide well in the fixture without binding, or undue slipping.There are contours on the reading edges of the reeds to allow flush, or offset reading. (Great for floor level measurements where flanges, etc. might interfere.)There are fairly strong magnets on one face for ready attachment to a ferrous surface.Both units have “ruled” markings for ready dimension reading.While the reeds are some sort of plastic material, they seem robust enough for long term use.This is a pretty good contour gauge set! (Much easier to use than my old brass reed gauge.)Hope this helps!

These contour gauges hold the shape for you to transfer the pattern to your building material. Be sure to press firmly when imprinting the contour. If you aren’t careful, you may not capture the full shape.

These are a game changer for cutting vinyl flooring. When we first started, we were using cardboard and rulers and pens to try to measure out and cut around corners, door jams, etc. With this you just press light against the object and then trace onto the vinyl… SO MUCH EASIER and way more accurate. Only thing to note is that the teeth obviously move with pressure applied so you just have to be careful when tracing.
